You wait all year for news from the world of Corinne Morgan, Corbie, and then it all arrives at once! Here’s a quick round-up of everything you can expect to see in the coming months:
CORBIE #2 REMASTERED IS IMMINENT
And about time too! It’s hard to believe it’s been more than half a year since the fifth anniversary edition of issue #1, “The Power”, was made available as a digital download, and you might have been wondering what’s taken so long to get around to the follow-up. Now we can finally catch you up on what’s happening!
The original version of issue #2, “My Teenage Revenge Power Fantasy”, was released in December 2018. Initially conceived as the latter half of the first issue, it marked (at the time) a stylistic shift in the series to a more cartoony look, though like its predecessor it was, uh… rough to look at, in places. It was also short, with only 13 pages of comic content.
For the remastered edition, all of these pages have been redrawn in agonising detail. If you’ve read the original telling of this story, you’ll really appreciate the glow-up, and will hopefully appreciate the many minor updates to the Corbieverse littered throughout that bring this tale into the roaring (twenty-) twenties.
The old material, however, is only the beginning! To bring this issue up to the regulation twenty-two pages expected for any good superhero “floppy”, NINE all-new, never-before-seen pages have been added. You’ll see Anna Dale Academy’s resident menaces The IC off-campus and up to no good, Neamhain and Macha on the trail of their sister Morrigan, and more of the events that led up to Corinne becoming her crime-fighting alter-ego, Corbie!

New characters and new locations also appear in the remastered CMC #2. Concept art for some of these appear above. The more familiar locale of Corinne’s bedroom has also received minor updates, while her adjacent secret workshop area is ventured into properly for the first time.
Above: More behind-the-scenes glimpses at new art from the pages of Corbie issue #2.
So how much longer will you have to wait? All of the story content for Corbie #2 has now been completed, with only a few additional bits and pieces (such as the cover art) to be checked off. As outlined below, the current target is for this issue to be available for purchase a few weeks from now via the same digital comic / ebook platforms where issue #1 was released. No variant covers this time around, but we still have some surprises in store!
BEYOND ISSUE #2
As the rest of the year progresses, the plan is to settle into a steady groove of releases. The current digital slate is as follows:
- MID-MAY 2024: Issue #2 (“My Teenage Revenge Power Fantasy”) Remastered
- JULY 2024: Issue #3 (“The Long Way Back Home”) Remastered
- SEPTEMBER 2024: Issue #4 (“The Cairns of Auld Tamiragh”) Remastered
- LATE 2024: An all-new issue #5, which will kick off a two-part story.
Following the publication of issue #5, it’s expected that the series will eventually settle into a quarterly schedule, with a new issue arriving roughly every three months… that’s the plan, at least! The first four issues will also be collected as a digital TPB before the year is out.
If you’ve been waiting for physical editions of CMC, good news! Plans are in motion following the digital release of #2 to offer both this issue and #1 as print versions. These will be extremely limited in numbers to keep costs down (and prevent your beleaguered author from having to store boxes of unsold comics in his already cramped home). Look for more updates on this soon!
CLOSING THE BOOK ON “CLASSIC” CORBIE
When the Expanded and Remastered version of Corbie #1 was released on October 14, 2023, the original edition – released five years earlier to the day – was pulled from circuation. (Rumors abound, however, that those who sign up to a certain newsletter are sent a secret code that allows them to download the 2018 version for free!) With the Remastered CMC #2 now mere weeks from release, its older counterpart has also been removed from the site. Say goodbye, too, to the OG versions of issues #3 and #4, pulled from circulation at the same time.
If you never got around to reading the original releases of these comics, fear not! Preliminary work is already underway on the remastered edition of issue #3. Though the existing art in this one doesn’t require quite as much of an overhaul as issues #1 and #2 – and at 19 pages in length, it won’t contain as much new material – the remastered edition of #3 will feature all-new colors, as the original elements used to create its pages no longer exist due to data loss. Look for more news on the remastered version of “The Long Way Back Home” this summer – and stay tuned to the Corbie website in the next few weeks for more teasers from the bigger and better issue #2!
